Barcode Font

Postby Johzen on Thu Feb 23, 2012 4:34 am

Hi guys,

I'm new to Barcoding, can you recommend me which Barcode Font I should use?

I want to be able to have my barcode font include special characters like "tab |<- ->|", or like have it do what a "cmd" can do like open a file.

How many characters is the maximum in barcodes.

Regards,
Johzen

If your is to automate Windows programs by scanning a barcode, you need:

1. choose a symbology that encode control characters. Code128 is a good choice.

2. Important! if you are using a USB interface scanner, you need to make sure that ASCII values are translated into Windows keys. Many people assume that the two are equivalent but they are not. You need to read the scanner manual to find out the mapping, or perform some testing first. Usually TAB and ENTER are safe bet, but not others (such as ctrl+A). If you are using a serial port interface scanner, you can find some "keyboard wedge" program over Internet that translate codes received into function keys.

Let me know if you have any questions.
