1. Introduction

This document is the release notes for Code 39 PCL Scalable Font Pack 1.0. The following sections describe the release in detail and provide late-breaking updates or other information that supplements the main documentation. This is the first release of the product.

Code39 PCL Scalable Font Pack provides customers a solution to print code 39 barcodes from other platforms to PCL-compatible printers. In contrast to offerings from competitors, the fonts included in this package are scalable format and can be scaled at will.

The package contains the following contents:

  • 14 PCL Scalable True type font to print code 3 of 9 barcodes at seven different height, with and without human readable.

  • Testing files, which include Windows batch files and Linux scripts to send PCL commands to a printer.

  • User Manual.

  • Code39gen, a command line utility which prints barcode string.

2. What's New?

Code39 Scalable Font Pack is a new product releases. Previously all PCL fonts were released in bitmapped format.

3. Installation and Upgrade Notes

3.1. Installation

If you are working on Windows and the printer is directly connected to your computer, you can use copy command to send files to your printer. If it is a network printer, you can use lpr command to send files to the printer.

3.2. Minimum System Requirements

  • A host computer equipped with copy, cat, or lpr command.

  • A PCL-compatible laser printer, with 600 dpi or above in resolution.
