Code39 PCL Scalable Font
Hello –
I am interested in purchasing your code 39 barcode fonts – I have downloaded a sample pcl font (code39ma.pcl) – which I am able to use and see that it worked – which it does.
Since I need to be able to control the size of the font, I figured the right product would be the scalable code 39 font pack. Before I I downloaded the demo of those fonts.
I am unable to get any of them to work. I am running this on a HP-UX machine and it is sending the file to the printer correctly, but the only font I can get to work is the file cpde39ma.pcl.
I can not get any of the demo files to work.
Can you please let me know what might be wrong? My printer is HP LaserJet 4L if that matters.

Re: Code39 PCL Scalable Font
Your printer is quite old and does not support true type scalable font.
You can find it in the PCL printer compatibility guide, page 59:

You can find it in the PCL printer compatibility guide, page 59:
The HP LaserJet 4 printer contains both
Intellifont and TrueType scaling technologies, but the 4L contains only
Intellifont scaling technology. Thus, the 4L does not contain any of the
TrueType typefaces, with one modification.

OK I'll get a new printer. How about P2055dn? Does that look good?

Yes. It looks good to me. Just make sure that it is not “Host-based” or “UPD driver” in the description. Many low end HP printers are host based, meaning that the printer does not have a full interpreter in hardware.

Re: Code39 PCL Scalable Font
Well – the P2050dn did it – I can now print your sample barcodes –
So – what I need is a code-39 barcode font to print on my invoice – I'll purchase soon.
